Not too long ago I was having one of the luckiest weeks in the year as I won two beauty giveaways within the space of two days & this Bobbi a Brown Calypso Cheek Palette was one of them from the lovely BeautyLymin (thank you once again for hosting such a great giveaway). I've never had a change to try out Bobbi Brown blushes, apart from one of their Pot Rouges which is cream based, so I was delighted with this palette from the very first look. The packaging is very sleek & luxe, which I really like, as it's perfect for popping in your travel makeup bag. But most of all it's the shades that stand out for me which are just beautiful and they suit my skin tone beautifully.
This palette is limited edition (this particular shade choice is sold out everywhere but there's still the Pink one available here) and it contains two blushes & a highlighter, which as the name suggests are coral based (however I did find them to be more on the pink side then I had originally imagined from the suggested name).
The three shades within the palette are as follows:
Pretty Coral Blush which is a soft coral shade with a pink undertone.
Calypso Sparkle Highlighter which is a pale gold highlighter with peach undertones.
Coral Sugar Blush which is a light pink shade with a subtle peach undertone.
Bobbi Brown suggests using these three different shades layered over each other to create a deep and unique shade, which is also long lasting. If you do this I would suggest using a very light hand & to be aware just exactly where you are applying each shade because looking like a clown is a possibility if you're not careful (take it from me). I like sticking to using either one of the blushes (depending on whether I want a pink or a coral end result) along with the highlighting shade, as it's just a fool proof method to getting the most natural finish. The powders are super soft to the touch & almost buttery when applied to the skin, making them very easy to blend out. They are also very pigmented so a little goes a long way, making the price worth it in the long run.
I don't really have a bad thing to say about this palette other than the fact that it's a much welcomed addition to my makeup stash & it will surely pop up in future makeup looks. Have you tried this palette? Or do you love any other gorgeous blush shades from Bobbi Brown? I'd love to know...
